Board Position: Vice President
DJ Hammonds - Grapevine High School
Coach DJ Hammonds' interest in high school soccer started as a player at Arlington Sam Houston before moving on to play at Oklahoma Christian College. DJ then transferred his love of the beautiful game to coaching, and is now entering his 16th year of coaching high school soccer in the State of Texas. He has had coaching stops at Mabank, Athens, Mansfield Timberview, Irving MacArthur and Midlothian High School. Currently he is serving as the Head Men’s Coach at Grapevine High School.
Coach Hammonds' teams have been consistently competitive with numerous playoff appearances, including a trip to the regional final in 2006 by Athens High School. He has multiple district coach of the year awards, the Tyler Telegraph East Texas Coach of the Year in 2006, and the TASCO Region 1 coach of the year in 2012.
DJ has also been on the TASCO Board of Directors since 2012 and on the Executive board for the past 2 years, serving as Treasurer. In addition he chaired the Bylaw Writing Committee.
In the USSF arena he has also served as the Director of Coaching for North Texas Celtic South for the past 2 years and has 9 years of club coaching experience.
" I would gladly embrace all the challenges that come with the TASCO Vice-presidency. I think my experiences as as a former regional director and as treasurer, along with the challenges I've learned from coaching at the 4, 5 and 6A levels at both low and high socioeconomic schools are all valuable tools that could really contribute to my understanding the diverse obstacles faced by TASCO coaches across the state."
